Sunbury House Fire

At five o'clock tonight (24th April), Sunbury, Diggers Rest and Riddells Creek Fire Brigades were paged to a reported house fire in the heart of Sunbury.

"On arrival, we had heavy smoke rolling from the front door, through the back windows, and zero visiblity through the front windows," explains Station Officer Brian Scown from Sunbury Fire Brigade. "We also had one elderly occupant who kept wanting to re-enter the house, who was suffering smoke inhalation."

With the arrival of appliances from Diggers Rest and Riddells Creek, an additional breathing apparatus team was sent into the house to do a quick search and complete overhaul and ventilation. Ambulance Paramedics were also requested for the occupant of the premises.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by Victoria Police.
