An elderly couple had to be rescued from a creek bed after their Toyota Camry left Cheltenham Rd Keysborough just near Eastlink and ended up on the rocks.

Dandenong fire brigade were paged to the rescue call on Sunday morning (2 Dec) around 10:30am.

Both occupants were transported to hospital for treatment by paramedics. Senior Station Officer Andrew Turner from Dandenong fire brigade was the Incident Controller and he said it was very lucky the car didn't go down a steeper section of the creek bank or it may have flipped over crushing them inside.
Crews took around 30 minutes to release both victims and carry them back up to awaiting ambulances. The car had been involved in a minor accident just prior to mounting the footpath, knocking over several shop signs and going through a fence and into the creek.
