Temporary home destroyed at Barfold
A portable school classroom being used as a temporary home at Barfold was destroyed by fire last night.
Firefighters were called to the Mills Road property about 7.30pm Wednesday night.
Located about two metres from a home under contruction, the 5x5 metre building was totally involved in fire when crews arrived on scene.
Early on there was some concern for the residents' safety when firefighters found a car parked out the front of the property with keys in the ignition. Firefighters searched the property but found no one.
Operations Manager Craig Brittain said thankfully the resident had been out and returned home while firefighters were packing up to leave.
It took 11 crews from Castlemain, Kyneton, Maldon, Redesdale, Langley - Barfold, Metcalfe, Malmsbury and Taradale about an hour to control the fire. They were on scene until around 11pm.
A cause is still being established.
