A Total Fire Ban (TFB) has been declared for the Mallee and Northern Country tomorrow (10 February).

Tomorrow's conditions in the Mallee will be hot, dry and windy with temperatures reaching the low 40’s.

Northern Country will experience similar hot, dry and windy conditions with temperatures reaching the high 30’s.

Chief Officer Steve Warrington tomorrow’s hot, dry and windy conditions could make it difficult for firefighters to suppress a fire should one start.

“Therefore, we are asking people to take heed of the Total Fire Ban conditions,” Mr Warrington said.

“If you are travelling or camping this weekend in these areas, please note that during a Total Fire Ban any fire in the open air is illegal- that includes campfires.

“People need to be aware of the increased fire danger and ensure you stay updated on all emergency information and never rely on one source of information.

TFBs mean no fire can be lit in the open air or allowed to remain alight from 12.01am to 11.59pm on the day of the Total Fire Ban.
