Thankyou for saving my mum
A grateful son has thanked CFA members who pulled his unconscious mother from her burning home in Upper Ferntree Gully earlier this week.
James Pater posted his thanks on CFA's Facebook page - we have reposted it below.
On Thursday 29th, you attended a house fire in Waters Ave, Upper Ferntree Gully and saved the life of a 43 year old woman, that woman was my mum, she was home all alone at the time of the fire.
I would like to thank you for how quickly all members responded to the fire as that precious time saved her, when you arrived the windows in the house were exploding, her neighbor informed you that she was still in the house, by this time my mum was unconscious on her bedroom floor and wasn’t breathing six CFA Firefighters entered the house through her bedroom window and risked their lives for my mum. Only two of the firefighters were wearing breathing apparatus’, the other’s risked serious amounts of smoke inhalation, which too often proves fatal.
They then then resuscitated her, until the Paramedics arrived who then placed her in an induced coma and airlifted her to The Alfred Hospital, she is now thankfully in a stable condition at Maroondah Hospital.
The Upper Ferntree Gully CFA Captain Peter Smith stopped short of saying the firefighters saved my mum’s life, but I promise you if it wasn’t for the actions of the firefighters on Thursday night my mum wouldn’t be alive right now, they risked everything to save her life.
Words cannot express how thankful I am to all members of the CFA who are currently serving, and have served everyone who lives in Victoria.
Thank you so much.
