The Basin's flashy Christmas show

CFA’s The Basin Fire Brigade are well and truly embracing the Christmas spirit, creating a festive film featuring flashy fire trucks, which has been viewed more than 300,000 times.

All four of the station’s fire trucks and vehicles appear to ‘dance’ to a remix of Jingle Bells, with lights flicking on and off to the beat.

Brigade volunteer firefighter Adam Kamenek, who is also a Community Education Support Officer at District 13 headquarters, filmed the footage in an hour, but spent up to six hours editing it all together.

“We filmed all the sequences as one big film,” Adam explained.

“Two other brigade members helped me by switching the lights on each vehicle on for about five minutes.

“I was simply filming each truck while flashing, then I edited it to suit the music, which wasn’t so simple!

“I was careful to make sure it was a smooth transition between each truck, which gives the impression we had filmed the whole sequence in one take.

“We managed to fool a few people into thinking it was all rehearsed and filmed in one go so I think I succeeded in pretty seamless editing between each take.

“It was frustrating at times because I don’t have a musical bone in my body but I am pretty chuffed that I stuck with it and the end result.

“It’s certainly proving popular and we hope it’s putting some smiles on faces because that’s what we hoped to achieve, especially coming up to Christmas.”

Adam has been a firefighter for five years with The Basin Brigade.
