Toolleen grass fire
Update 5:34pm Wednesday 5 December: A large grassfire at Toolleen, east of Bendigo, has been brought under control.
A helitak water bomber helped ground crews knock down the fire as it reached Mt Pleasant Creek.
Around 25 CFA and DSE crews fought the fire for an hour and a half and will remain on scene for some time mopping up. Investigations into a cause have begun and early indications suggest it is not suspicious.
Reports from the scene say a shed and care were destroyed in the blaze, and, at one stage, a home threatened. No one was injured.
Traffic on the Northern Hwy is likely to be disrupted for some time.
Update 5pm: A large grassfire burning 8km's northwest of Toolleen has grown to 80 hectares and is burning westerly toward bushland.
17 trucks are now on scene.
4:45pm: CFA and DSE are battling an 8-10 hectare grassfire at Toolleen, 40km's east of Bendigo
Two aircraft have been dispatched, while 14 CFA crews and 6 DSE slip ons fight the fire near the Northern Hwy.
Early reports from the scene suggest a home is under threat and a shed and car may have been destroyed.
