Total Fire Ban in place

A Total Fire Ban will be in place for the Mallee, Wimmera and Northern Country tomorrow (Tuesday, 13 December).

No fires can be lit in open air in these areas from midnight until 11.59pm.

There will be a Severe Fire Danger Rating in these areas, as well as in the North East.

CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington said tomorrow would be a significant fire danger day for half of Victoria, predicting challenging conditions for firefighters.

“We expect hot and windy and dry conditions to present high risk of fire breaking out right across the top half of the state,” Mr Warrington said.

“We have increased the presence of firefighting aircraft in these areas in preparation for tomorrow.

“Communities living in or travelling through these areas must stay updated on conditions.

“Review your fire plans and put them into action early.”
