Total Fire Bans on Wednesday
A Total Fire Ban has been declared in the Wimmera, South West and Central fire weather districts for tomorrow, Wednesday, 15 February.
Conditions will be warm and dry, with north westerly winds ahead of a dry southwesterly change.
Fire Danger Ratings are Severe in Wimmera and Very High across the rest of the state, except Northern Country and East Gippsland where it is High.
CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington said emergency services would be on standby to respond to any fire that starts.
“Grasslands again around the west of Melbourne are a concern for us as well as the entire western corner of the state,” he said.
“The grass is dry, so under conditions like those tomorrow, fast moving fires are possible. Although it’s not going to be superhot, wind tomorrow and the dry change means there’s potential for fires.”
For more information about what is permitted on a day of Total Fire Ban, check the Can I and Can’t I page on the CFA website.
