Traffic a mess after garbage truck fire
Firefighters have helped extinguish a garbage truck fire that left traffic in a mess on the Princes Fwy this morning.
CFA crews were called to the fire on an inbound lane near Werribee just after 5.30am.
Crews worked to douse the contents once the compactor at the rear of the truck could be opened.
The fire was brought under control at 7.15.
Earth moving equipment has been brought in to help pull the contents apart.
A section of the freeway was closed due to the amount of smoke over road but has since been reopened.
Five crews attended from Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Point Cook and Wyndham Vale, along with breathing apparatus support from Corio.
