Truck fire in Wandong

At 2.08pm on Sunday afternoon a truck fire in Wandong affected traffic in both directions on the Hume Fwy. South-bound traffic was diverted through Broadford and Wandong.

The truck containing carpets required firefighters to wear breathing apparatus to fight the fire.

The fire was under control by 3.45pm. Approx 14 CFA units responded to the incident including a Protective Equipment unit from Bendigo.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

An Advice message was issued for the areas of Wallan, Wandong and Hidden Valley. Residents were advised to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed, as there was potential for toxic smoke. This Advice message was issued at 3.29pm today and made safe approximately two hours later.
