The latest news on National Emergency Medal events and presentations recognising the service of CFA members during the 2009 bushfires.

More than four and a half thousand CFA members will receive a National Emergency Medal over the coming months, a reflection of the scale and the significance of the disaster which saw a significant contribution from both frontline firefighters and support staff behind the scenes.

The National Emergency Medal recognises service to others during a nationally significant emergency – in this case the bushfires of January and February 2009 where more than 19,000 CFA members were involved in frontline firefighting, incident management and support behind the scenes.

Presentations that have occurred lately include:

- Gippsland Region - Sunday 27th October

- Southern Metropolitan Region, Westernport Group - Tuesday 29th October

- Barwon South West Region, District 6 & 7 - Wednesday 30th October.

Upcoming events include:

Sunday 10th November (Grampians Region District 15), Sunday 17th November (Barwon South West Region, District 4 & 5), Sunday 24th November (Hume Region, Yea Group), Tuesday 26th November (Southern Metropolitan Region, Cardinia Group), Monday 2nd December (Southern Metropolitan Region, Bass Coast Group), Monday 9th December and Tuesday 10th December (Grampians Region, District 16)
