Vacant house fires in outer east

CFA firefighters have extinguished two house fires in vacant buildings in Melbourne's outer east overnight.

A house fire started in Ferntree Gully just before 10.30pm. The fire is believed to have started in one of the front rooms. The fire had spread into the roof space and severely damaged three rooms.It is being treated as suspicious, with police guarding the house overnight. CFA fire investigators will attend today.

Another fire started in neighbouring suburb Boronia just after 11.30pm. The double-storey brick house was fully involved when firefighters arrived at the scene, with extensive damage to the second storey of the house and fire spreading into the roof. It is believed the vacant house had recently been completed. Police has been notified for suspicious circumstances and CFA fire investigators will attend today.
