CFA attended the annual VicDeaf Christmas BBQ Rally on Sunday 7 December 2014 at Westerfolds Park in Templestowe. The focus was on bushfire warnings and advice and how to get the most up to date information.  Plus there were plenty of activities for the kids.

CFA shared a marquee with Conexu Foundation who have been developing Silent Tweets as another way for people who are deaf or hearing impaired to receive fire warnings.

Although it was a rainy day and not the best weather for a picnic in the park there were still plenty of questions for CFA.  "Most people wanted to know about the Fire Ready App" said Belinda Ainley, the CFA presenter who attended the Rally.  Belinda also noted that most people were quite knowledgeable about their risk and what they were planning to do over summer and on high risk days.

It was a good way for CFA to engage with the deaf and hearing impaired community and remind them of the fire risk this summer.  CFA also plans on attending the VicDeaf Gaslight Festival in Albury in March 2015 and hopefully it will not be so wet.
