VicPol investigate Strathallan fire

Victoria Police is investigating the cause of a fire which burnt 25 hectares of farmland at Strathallan, 20 kilometres south of Echuca.

12 crews from Echuca, Lockington, Rochester, Tongala, Kyabram and Bawawm responded to the blaze, which is beleived to have started beside the Echuca Kyabram Road, just before 5pm (Monday 3 December).

Irrigation channels made access difficult as crews battled strong westerly winds. It took almost an hour to bring under control.

Smoke from the fire caused the temporay closure of the road by Victoria Police.

It capped off a busy afternoon for CFA firefighters who also battled blazes at Ebden and Prairie. Crews remained on scene for some time mopping up.
