Volunteer Leaders Forum 2017

CFA volunteers are encouraged to apply to attend the sixth Volunteer Leaders Forum on 29-30 April 2017.

Held at the Novotel Hotel in St Kilda, CFA Volunteer Sustainability Manager Ali Martin said the forum provided a great opportunity to learn about the inner workings of emergency management that can be applied to their brigades.

“Leaders and aspiring leaders in brigades can meet and network with members from other volunteer organisations and emergency service agencies,” Ali Martin said.

“This Forum will expose volunteer leaders, and leaders of the future, to a range of initiatives and developments in emergency management.

“CFA will be the beneficiary with the focus on enhancing leadership skills for brigade leaders, with participants understanding of the latest in policy, doctrine and technology having them better prepared when responding to emergencies.

“This will result in better outcomes for the community.”

Limited to 150, successful applicants and future leaders from volunteer organisations around Victoria will spend a weekend of networking and meeting industry leaders and agency chiefs, site tours, workshops, special information sessions.

Delegates will visit Air Ambulance at Essendon, DELWP’s workshops at Altona and the State Control Centre. The traditional barbecue will be at MFB Burnley, and will include a high-angle rescue demonstration and an extensive mobile equipment display.
