Walk Off the War Within event this Saturday

CFA, emergency service responders, Australian Defence Force personnel and the community are walking around Victoria Park in Ballarat this Saturday, 22 April, to raise awareness of depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. 

The event is starting at St Patricks College Oval, Eyre Street, Newington, Ballarat.

Some participants in Ballarat will be carrying a 20-kilogram pack to signify the heavy weight of PTSD. Almost 1500 people have already registered.

The staging area will include jumping castles, petting zoos, emergency service displays, fire truck and ambulance displays, food vans, Captain Koala and Beepa the Smoke Alarm, BBQs and displays from support organisations such as Soldier On, Lifeline, Equine Therapy, Survivors of Suicide and others.

The day’s proceedings:
8:00am - Warm Up Exercises & Activities with Ben's Army Gymnasium.
9:00am - Start of event / challenge with EM Commissioner Craig Lapsley and the Shanahan Family.
10:00am - The Fire Safety Show will be performing for the Children and Supporters. Captain Koala and Beepa the Smoke Alarm will be there to help. The CFA Health and Well Being Team will be handing out show bags and a marquee will be setup offering free massages from our team of masseuses.
