WDV Group exercise
The Whittlesea Diamond Valley Group conducting an exercise in and around Doreen on Sunday 27 November 2016.
The exercise was a part of the pre-summer training allowing the crews to hone their skills before the fire danger period.
A large number of Fire Trucks were formed up into Strike Teams and tasked to complete a range of scenarios under the watchful eye of the Strike Team Leaders.
The Strike Team Leaders it turn reported to the Sector Commanders whom feed information back to the Incident Controller.
Many people at all levels from new recruits to crusty old captains had a chance to put into practice the skills that may be needed in earnest this fire season.
Brigades taking part from the Whittlesea Diamond Valley Group included South Morang, Plenty, Yarrambat, Diamond Creek, Mernda, Arthurs Creek and Doreen.
A special thanks to Scoresby Hose Layer, Wonga Park Big Fill, Private Water Tanker and Group Staging Team for assisting with this exercise.
The day was a great success that provided the group with some insights into our capabilities.
Congratulations to OO Gavin Wright, GO Urs Biedermann and those who helped organise the exercise.
