Wendouree brigade bus handover
On Wednesday 20 November 2013 Wendouree Fire Brigade officially received keys to its new Toyota Coaster Mini bus purchased through the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP).
Simon Ramsay MLC, Member for Western Victoria and Michael Tudball AFSM, CFA Board Member attended the Wendouree Fire Station to present the keys and CFA service awards. Other guests in attendance were: Hans Van Hamond AFSM, President, Volunteer Fire Brigades Victoria, Geoffrey Gray, Operations Manager, CFA District 15 and Garry Drabsch, Captain, Wendouree Fire Brigade.
Wendouree Fire Brigade diligently raised funds through their annual calendar drive. On behalf of the brigade, Captain Garry Drabsch shared his appreciation to Wendouree and surrounding communities for the generous donations that were put towards the necessary purchase.
The bus cost over $98,000 and will be used to transport firefighters to large scale incidents. It will also reduce the risk of fatigue greatly as members will not have to drive home after working extensive shifts on the fire ground.
Several members of the brigade were also presented with National Emergency Medals. The National Emergency Medal recognises service to others during a nationally significant emergency such as 2009 Black Saturday fires. Members presented include: Anthony Braggion, Garry Drabsch, Peter Every, David Nestor, Leon Punton, Robert Stewart, Ashley Trounson, Raymond Trounson. Several other Wendouree Fire Brigade members received National Emergency Medals
at a large scale presentation on 10 November 2013.
Jodie Morrison and Damien Liston also received CFA Service Award Medals for 25 years of service to the community. Simon Van Hamond was presented with a retirement certificate for more than 28 years of service in the brigade.
