Wendouree FB dinner and awards
On 8 July, Wendouree Fire Brigade celebrated another year of community service and firefighting.
This was the 56th annual meeting for Wendouree, and the dinner was enjoyed by around 70 members.
Captain Shaun Russell and the brigade acknowledged the passing of life members Bob Stewart, Geoff Donald and Kath Prosser. They also celebrated the efforts put towards an intensive 2015-16 fire season, that members from across Victoria can relate to. They acknowledged notable incidents they assisted with (bushfires and structural), and projects including purchasing a thermal imaging camera - which now gets used at most fires they attend.
District 15 Acting Operations Manager Alfred Mason presented the following members with their awards:
NATIONAL MEDAL 3RD CLASP & 45 YEAR CFA LIFE MEMBERSHIP MEDAL - Tony Hand
40 YEAR CFA LIFE MEMBERSHIP MEDAL - Gail Donald
30 YEAR SERVICE MEDAL - Stephen Sutton
20 YEAR SERVICE MEDAL - Leon Cray
25 YEAR SERVICE MEDAL - Helen Benda
15 YEAR SERVICE MEDAL - Captain Shaun Russell & 3RD Lt Ashley Trounsen
10 YEAR SERVICE MEDAL - Nicholas Morrison
5 YEAR CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE - Ashley Quick, Delaney Armstrong, Kian Garlick, Thomas Germon & Tyson Van Den Hoek
Also presented were the WENDOUREE FIRE BRIGADE AWARDS:
Stephen Sutton received his 30 Year membership, and Helen Benda received 25 years.
15 years membership was also acknowledged for Ash Trounsen, Don Garlick and Shaun Russell.
And, the auspicious Firefighter of The Year Award (known only to the Captain and 1st Lt before the night) went to Danny Gray.
