Wesburn shed fire
Fire crews from as far away as Lilydale, Mt Evelyn and Scoresby were called to a large shed fire in Wesburn (Yarra Ranges Shire) last night (Fri 23 Nov 2012) due to lack of water and warm weather conditions.
The steel-clad shed, approximately 20 metres by 10 metres, contained 7 cars and a truck and was well alight when crews were called to the scene on Station Road at 10:26pm last night.
Regional Duty Officer Jason Lawrence said the lack of water and the weather conditions meant 20 vehicles and crews from a wide area had to be responded.
"The lack of a water supply meant we needed a lot of vehicles to provide extra water," he said.
"The warm weather conditions also meant we had to regularly rotate firefighters in breathing apparatus to avoid heat exhaustion."
The fire was brought under control at 11.36pm and the incident was stopped at 12.26am this morning (Sat 24 Nov 2012)
