The annual Western Emergency Services Team (WEST) fundraising dinner dance is being held at Sheldon Receptions in Sunshine on Saturday July 20.

WEST has raised more than $250,000 over the years for sick and injured children which has been used to buy life-saving equipment for hospitals including the Royal Children's and Werribee Mercy.

Retired Victoria Police sergeant and WEST organiser Ron Fenton said the annual dinner dance is a great opportunity for members of all agencies to get to know each other better outside of the emergency setting.

Speaking to Point Cook Fire Brigade members at their recent monthly meeting he said the original idea behind WEST was to help improve understanding and teamwork between the different emergency services in the west Melbourne area.

Tickets cost $80pp which includes a 3 course meal, beer, wine and soft drinks and entertainment by the Navy Corvettes Band.

For tickets phone Pt Cook 2nd Lieutenant John Frost on 0413 696240 or Ron Fenton on 0403 338826.
