Winery blaze in Werribee

CFA firefighters were called to an early morning fire at a winery in Werribee today, 30 May.

Shortly after 7am, crew responded to a fire at Shadowfax on K Road.

The fire was on the ground level of a mezzanine building and contained to the kitchen. Wine barrels were stored nearby.

CFA District 14 Operations Officer Lachlan Redman said crews worked quickly to control the blaze just before 7.40am.

“Volunteers and staff both responded to this fire and worked really well together to contain the fire to the room of origin, with minimal water and fire damage to nearby areas,” he said.

Breathing Apparatus was used by fire crews. Ambulance Victoria, Police and building surveyors also responded.

A total of 11 CFA trucks from Werribee, Point Cook, Little River, Lara, Hoppers Crossing, Wyndham Vale, Truganina, Corio and the Geelong Ladder Platform attended.
