CFA is still on scene cleaning up from a hay baler and hay shed fire in Gippsland’s south-west.

Six crews from Allambee, Berry’s Creek, Hallston-Mt Eccles, Leongatha, Mirboo North and Trida and a number of support vehicles were called to the incident in Dawsons Road, Wooreen about 1.00pm today.

CFA District 9 Operations Officer Bill Alards said the fire started in a hay baler and due to winds, spread to a nearby hay shed.

He said the baler, shed and about 100 large, round bales of hay had been lost in the fire.

The fire took about an hour to bring under control and crews are still on scene where an excavator is helping to pull the hay apart.
