Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade receive keys to FCV

Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade was thrilled to officially receive the keys to their new Field Command Vehicle (FCV) on Sunday, 10 April 2016.

With attendance from CFA Chief Officer Joe Buffone PSM, Member for Lalor Joanne Ryan MP, CFA Operations Manager Trevor Roberts, Wyndham Councillors and a number of other dignitaries, the event was well represented.

The Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade, a fully volunteer brigade, has worked hard to raise funds towards a new Ford Ranger with a modified canopy. This included the sale of Christmas Trees to the community which brought in enough money for them to contribute the 1/3 required to apply for a Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) grant.

Through the VESEP grant scheme, the brigade was able to replace their 2008 model vehicle which was previously owned by Werribee Fire Brigade. Between the 2 brigades, it had seen a lot of incidents.

Captain Trevor Weston thanked the members of the brigade for their hard work in raising the brigade contribution towards the vehicle which was approximately $20,000. He also thanked the state government for the grant which has increased the brigade’s ability to respond to fire and other emergencies.

The work that the members of our Brigade have undertaken, in their own time, to ensure the provision of this specialised vehicle to the community of Wyndham is extremely commendable. This vehicle will greatly assist us in delivering highly effective fire and emergency response to the community, not only in Wyndham, but potentially across the state and even interstate. The Brigade also wish to acknowledge the generous support of the community in assisting us with achieving the purchase of this vehicle, with special mention going to the Werribee Branch of the Bendigo Bank for their contribution towards some of the equipment carried on this new vehicle.

Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade resides in the City of Wyndham municipality which is the fastest growing in Victoria. The brigade is increasing in incidents rapidly and the new FCV is just one enhancement the brigade needs to be able to keep up with the growth.
