Members and friends of the Wyndham Vale Fire Brigade who attended the brigade's annual dinner on 16 October saw a number of members presented with CFA service awards by Operations Manager Trevor Roberts.

These awards included a Chief Officer's Unit Citation to the brigade and a number of individual members.

Earlier this year, the brigade responded to a tragic car accident which sadly resulted in multiple fatalities.

Assistant Chief Officer North West Region Chris Eagle presented a Chief Officer's Unit Citation certificate which was accepted by brigade Captain Trevor Weston. With the support of Trevor Roberts, he then acknowledged the following individuals:

  • Lieutenant Andrew Ludeman
  • Christopher Cody
  • Christopher Meyers
  • Mick Spencer
  • Scott Langdon
  • Rowan Thwaites (now Werribee Fire Brigade)
  • Joel Tweedly
  • Lawrence Carver
  • Lieutenant Craig Ludeman
  • Ex-Captain Francis Ludeman
  • Rodney Mitchell

The brigade and its members continue working through the after effects of the incident and support each other with their recovery.

Trevor Weston said, "I remain immensely proud of all of my members each and every day and this tragic event highlights the professionalism and closeness that all brigade members consistently display. The Chief Officer's Unit Citation is a fitting recognition of the members involved on that day."
