CFA Championships update

  | Terry Hayes Views: 1503

A workshop is being held in Bendigo on 14 April to discuss long-term sustainability of the CFA-VFBV Championships.

CFA Championships update

The purpose of the workshop is to develop a five-year action plan for the historic competition, which has been running since 1873.

All brigades with a competition team have been asked to nominate a representative to attend in addition to the membership of the Rural and Urban Rules Committees.

The workshop is a chance for members to have their say on the direction of the Championships, with the aim of ensuring the competition remains one of the flagship events on CFA calendar. More than 150 members are expected to attend at the workshop.

Further consultation with members will take place following the workshop with the aim of having a plan ready by June 30.

Mooroopna 2020

Preparations continue ahead of the concurrent running of Urban and Rural Championships in Mooroopna in 2020, with a coordinating committee set up in District 22.

The event has received significant support from City of Greater Shepparton, various facets of CFA, and local communities. The Championships will be held the weekend of March 28 & 29 2020, and will be a major celebration of all things CFA, with entertainment, thrilling competition, and  up to date information on appliances, equipment, training and tools.

Further details on Mooroopna 2020 will be communicated when available.

Current championships

CFA is right in the midst of Championships season at the moment, with fantastic events held in Bendigo and Kerang recently.

Melton were too good at the Urban Junior Championships in February, taking out overall winners. A number of records were smashed at the recent Urban Senior Championships in Bendigo, including a 43 year old benchmark in the Champion Fours event, where Kangaroo Flat became the first team to break the 16 second barrier (15.90).

CFA would like to thank and congratulate all members who provided their time to contribute to these events, which were ran with great spirit and camaraderie between all competitors.

Still to come is the Rural Senior Championships in Bendigo on the weekend of April 6 & 7.

2020 Urban Junior Championships

The 2020 Urban Junior Championships will continue to be run separately next year. It can be announced that Horsham will be the venue be held in Horsham in 2020, with more information to be communicated when available.
