An art expo kicked off the events on Monday, followed by mental health first-aid sessions on Tuesday. On Wednesday night there was a movie and sausage sizzle for just a gold coin donation.
Thursday provided the opportunity to attend a mind, body and fitness night at the leisure centre which included lucky door prizes, guest speakers and nibbles.
The week concluded on Friday with a community walk and expo held at the town hall during the day and an open mic night in the evening at the Swan Hill club to wrap up a very busy week.
The community walk and expo event started with a Welcome to Country including the playing of a didgeridoo which was conducted by members of the Clontarf Group who are also students at Swan Hill Secondary College. The event was then formally opened by Swan Hill City Mayor Cr Ann Young, who shared a personal story of how mental illness had impacted her family.
Victoria Police members led the walk with many community members joining together to demonstrate their support to each other and this important initiative.
Many organisations including CFA took part in the expo with all stalls providing lots of information, support and hands on activities for participants.
Participants were reminded of the many support services available to them including the CFA Wellbeing Support number 1800 959 232 which is 24/7 service that is available for use by all CFA members and their immediate family members.
