CFA has won the highest number of plasma donations for the 2020 Emergency Services Blood Challenge.

Second place for CFA in this year’s Emergency Services Blood Challenge

Mount Eliza Firefighter Maddie Coleman

Coming in second overall, CFA members made over 1250 donations only 59 behind the winners, Victoria Police.

For the fourth year in a row, Victoria Police have taken the title for most donations registered by any service across the country. But CFA members gave them a very tight run for their money throughout the challenge.

A total of 13,863 donations were made across the country, generating enough blood to save 41,000 lives.

CFA had 660 members donate throughout the challenge and registered an amazing 1258 donations, 308 more donations than last year’s challenge tally. This is enough blood to help save 3,774 lives.

The top five locations for CFA members giving blood were:

  • Ballarat 153 donations
  • Ringwood 148 donations
  • Frankston 110 donations
  • Geelong 101 donations
  • Traralgon 99 donations

Trophies are currently being organised by Red Cross and we expect to receive ours in the coming weeks.

Well done to everyone who donated and thank you to all involved.

You can view the full results on the Red Cross Blood Challenge website.

The challenge may be over, but Australia still needs 31,000 life-giving donations every week. If you're feeling well, we'd love to see you.
