Carlsruhe brigade members have celebrated the official opening of the new Carlsruhe Fire Station today.
More than 70 people attended the ceremony including CFA Board member Dawn Hartog, Mary-Anne Thomas MP and Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp, to mark the special occasion.
The $1.1 million state-of-the-art facility replaces the brigade’s 39 year-old station.
Carlsruhe Fire Brigade Captain Peter Baldwin, who emceed the event, said the new station and its facilities will further enable our members to serve and protect the community now and into the future.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who worked hard to see this project come to fruition,” he said.
“I want to highlight the generous donations from our local community who funded the third Motor Room bay.”
“I am confident this new station will not only allow future growth of the brigade but will also improve our operational capability.”
The new station features three motor room bays, work benches, storage, communications facilities, male and female turn-out rooms, male and female ambulant bathrooms, BA store, a brigade office, a multipurpose room, on-site carparking and a truck turning area.
District 2 Commander Darren Eenjes said Carlsruhe brigade has been involved in many significant fires over the years including Ash Wednesday, Black Saturday, and more recently were deployed to Mallacoota for the significant 2019/20 fires.
“It’s easy to see the need to provide these volunteers with the best possible facilities so they can continue to do what they do best – protecting lives and property,” he said.
“I would like to thank the brigade for their invaluable service to their local community and beyond.”
