CFA brigades have commemorated the actions of the fallen, those who've served and those currently serving, by participating in Anzac Day services across the state.

Members were eager to pay their respects following last year’s restrictions on ANZAC Day activities.

On Sunday 25 April Traralgon West Brigade took part in ANZAC Day celebrations alongside their neighbouring brigades.

Traralgon West Captain and Retired Royal Australian Armoured Corp. Sergeant Brian Soall said it was great to be able to come together to pay our respects.

“We have a number of veteran members who have served in the Australian Defence Force in varying capacities,” Brian said. “Many of them volunteer to feel a sense of mateship and camaraderie and continue to help the community after their service has ended.”

Brian helps organise a number of services within the Highland Group including Traralgon Dawn Service, Glengarry ANZAC Service and Tyers ANZAC Service.

“Highland Group members visited parades and services across the district to pay their respects to those who have served and sacrificed in the name of our country.

“Thank you to all serving, veteran and passed servicemen and women for yours and your families’ service to our great nation.

“We are eternally grateful,” he added. “Lest we forget.”
