2018 Emergency Services Blood Challenge

The Red Cross Emergency Services Blood Challenge is underway and CFA members are currently in third place in the national tally, having made 175 donations since the challenge started on 1 June.

2018 Emergency Services Blood Challenge

Victoria Police and NSW Police are currently in the lead with 228 and 209 donations.

If you're a regular donor, just check you are signed up as a CFA Red25 donor so your donations count to our overall tally. You can either sign up in person when you next donate or online here.

Every single CFA member can donate and have their donation count towards the national tally.

The challenge is now in its tenth year and encourages groups and organisations to donate blood. The challenge runs over the winter months as this is usually a time when donations numbers are impacted due to the cold and flu season, yet the need for blood never stops. The challenge also presents a unique opportunity for a bit of friendly competition with the other services.

Last year, Victoria Police trumped the competition in the state with 1,085 recorded donations, leaving CFA to take out second place with 940 donations. Making a donation only takes one hour out of your day, yet it has the immense power to save three individual's lives.

Please roll up your sleeves, remember to register your donation with Red-25 CFA, spread the word and let’s take out the title!

For any further information around the challenge or donating blood please contact CFA’s Red Cross Blood Donor Coordinator, Naomi Engelke on 03 9262 8409 or n.engelke@cfa.vic.gov.au
