Career info sessions: Warrnambool & Portland

Residents from in and around Warrnambool and Portland are invited to hear more about firefighting as a career via two information sessions being held by CFA in mid-May.

Warrnambool Career Firefighting Information Session - 11 May

Wednesday 11 May (evening) at the new fire station, 61-65 Mortlake Rd, Sth Warrnambool.

Portland Career Firefighting Information Session - 12 May

Thursday 12 May (evening) at the new Portland Fire Station, 130 Percy St, Portland.

Tegan Fisher from CFA’s Career Firefighter Recruitment team said the free two-hour sessions would give locals the chance to hear first-hand from local firefighters about life on the job.

She encouraged anyone - no matter what their level of interest - to take up the opportunity to hear tips and guidance about preparing for the application process, which includes a range of assessments and interviews.

“We’re looking for well-rounded people who can lead and mentor others, and work in a team,” she said.

“A lot of our firefighters are surprised once they get into the job by not only the day-to-day variety but the options and career pathways that open up to them.”

“The work-life balance is excellent, not to mention the sense of satisfaction and reward you get from helping and working together with the community.”

CFA career firefighters respond to anything from rescues to chemical HAZMAT as well as structure or bush fires, and take an active leadership and education role in the community.

Bookings are essential for both Portland and Warrnambool sessions - please email West This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to book.
