The group consists of 18 brigades from District 5 in South West Victoria area.

CFA Board member Lynda Hamilton presented National Medals to Geoffrey McErvale, Geoffrey Mibus, Murray Haeusler, Don Robertson, Bill Crawford and Graeme Haeusler.

Ms Hamilton was privileged to be able to make the presentations. “These volunteers are the backbone of CFA. Without them, there would be no CFA,” she said.

Dundas Group Officer Steve Lewis had the honour of presenting the Group Life Memberships to Laurence Menzel, Bert Astbury, Hartley Nagorcka and Don Robertson.

“All of these recipients have been longstanding officers of the group and have given many years’ service to the group and the CFA,” Steve said.

District 5 Operations Officer Andrew Barry presented Certificates of Thanks to outgoing Captains Geoffrey McErvale, Darryl Delahoy, Peter Bergmark and Everard Linke, plus outgoing Deputy Group Officers Bert Astbury and Renee Ackerley.

Andrew also thanked the members for their willingness to take on the Captain and Deputy Group Officer roles and provide leadership to their brigades and the group.

Guest speaker for the evening was Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley, who gave an update on changes in emergency management in Victoria and an outline of the challenges that we face.

The Group enjoyed a lovely meal provided at Alexandra House in Hamilton with approximately 100 people attending.
