CFA Plan 2018-19

CFA's 2018-19 Annual Plan outlines how we will improve and enhance the services we deliver as well as the support we provide to our volunteers, staff and brigades.

CFA

I'm proud to share CFA's 2018-19 Annual Plan which outlines how we will improve and enhance the services we deliver as well as the support we provide to our volunteers, staff and brigades.

It reiterates our promise to put the community at the centre of what we do and to pursue improvements that will transform CFA into a progressive and inclusive emergency service.

Supporting our people

To achieve this we will invest in our people to ensure they have the skills, knowledge, equipment and authority needed to lead CFA into the future. This includes employing training coordinators at the district level to improve access to training, and trialling a virtual reality training platform to expand training capability. We will also provide a work environment that promotes physical and mental health through programs such as Fit For Duty, and the Safety, Environment and Wellbeing Plan.

Strengthening service delivery capability

We will strengthen our service delivery capability through investment in infrastructure and equipment, funded through the State Government's $60 million Fire Services Statement Package. Our 2018/19 Asset Plan outlines a planned spend of $155.8 million, across land and building, fleet, plant and equipment, and other programs. We will also implement the first year of the Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Program, provide new technologies to promote collaboration and innovation, and develop a Cadet Program to create a pipeline of new volunteer leaders.

A welcoming, inclusive and diverse workplace

We will implement a range of initiatives including Matter of Respect training and Inclusion and Fairness Champions. We will also aim for a five per cent increase in the number of female operational and volunteer staff, career firefighters, and senior leaders, and ensure that our values are promoted and embodied by our people.

Of course, this is just a brief summary of the initiatives we have outlined for the year ahead. You can read the full detail by viewing the 2018-19 Annual Plan.

I encourage you to read the plan and discuss it in your brigades, teams and districts. We all have a role to play in achieving our strategic priorities, and improving CFA for the future.

I look forward to working alongside you to achieve our goals.
