CFA Simon Bloink with staff, directors and CFA CLBE Shamis Law

The visit, made by Community Liaison Bushfire Engagement Officer Shamis Law and District 11 Operations Officer Simon Bloink, was the first time in many years that CFA has delivered on-site education to this remote boarding school.

MLC Marshmead is a learning-in-residence campus situated on a 114-hectare farm bordering the Croajingolong National Park in far East Gippsland. Designed as a community village, the learning-in-residence style campus accommodates 120 staff and students in eight-week terms.

The session was a tailored specifically for the camp with an emphasis on travelling through high-risk areas with students, and the importance of having plans in place on high fire risk days and being fire ready.

The directors will now ensure all their staff complete Bushfire Safety for Workers, CFA's newly-released digital education package on the Learning Hub for those travelling through high fire risk areas.
