CFA’s former training college at Fiskville is moving into the second stage of its rehabilitation as decommissioning of the Practical Area Drill (PAD) area draws to a conclusion.
The removal of the PAD was a major milestone in the project, which included the removal of the fire training props and other above-ground structures, underground pipework and associated petroleum storage system infrastructure within the training area.
The next phase of the rehabilitation will include the clean-up of soil, sediment, water and the management of impacted soil.
CFA will continue to work with EPA and external experts to successfully complete the rehabilitation of the site.
CFA expects to complete the project by June 2020.
