Let there be light

You may have noticed some changes as you approach Doreen Fire Station along Yan Yean Road.

Let

Doreen Fire Brigade has recently installed two advanced traffic warning signs on Yan Yean Road as you approach the station.

These signs are solar powered, remotely controlled and will flash amber for up to 90 seconds when a fire truck is responding to emergencies, giving the approaching traffic advanced warning.

This will improve safety for road users and firefighters turning out, particularly at peak times.

We are thankful to the late John Butler, City of Whittlesea Councillor and CFA volunteer firefighter, who was instrumental in accessing a grant from the Federal Government.

John was able to persuade the Federal Government to allow us to get a contribution to complete this very worthwhile project.

Councillor Butler also had plans to have Doreen Fire Station refurbished. Sadly, his untimely death has delayed this next project, but we have stepped up our efforts to continue the good work he had begun.

So if you're out Doreen way and you see those amber lights flashing, be aware that the fire trucks are on the move.
