Revamped digital library launched

CFA has launched a revamped digital library for members and the community to use to promote fire safety, volunteerism, and events.

Revamped digital library launched

Popular pick: Elvis the now-retired water-bombing helicopter

New collections and hundreds of new images have been added to the library as part of the revamp, and now in excess of 3000 images are available to download and use.

The photos are free to use for non-commercial use including on brigade social media and websites.

A key inclusion has been a collection of new volunteer photos commissioned by the Volunteer Sustainability team to help encourage and promote volunteerism.

All albums have been restructured to make finding and ordering images easier and the keyword search has also been improved.

CFA receives more than 1,200 image requests each year via its digital library.

An image taken at a back-burn near the Great Alpine Road at Bruthen in 2007 is the most downloaded image since the library became available.

The most searched album is Community Safety with photos of trucks and Elvis the water-bombing helicopter, now retired, also being favourite requests.

There is a new domain to access CFA’s Digital Library (formerly CFA Pix). You can browse the photos by visiting www.cfa.vic.gov.au/images

Image order requests will be processed in most cases within 24 hours from Monday to Thursday. Image orders submitted after 3pm on a Friday will be processed the following Monday.
