Safety first in Warrandyte

CFA’s ‘Your Guide to Survival’ booklet contains essential information for Victorians and tourists about the summer fire risk. It is now available at the Warrandyte Bendigo Bank branch.

The Warrandyte Community Bank wanted to join forces with CFA because it is keen to help the local community understand the risks of living in a fire-prone area and to ensure they have a good bushfire plan.

In a further commitment to making community safety a priority, the branch, located in the heart of Warrandyte, will close on days that have an Extreme or Code Red Fire Danger Rating.

The policy to close has been endorsed by CFA, with Chief Officer Joe Buffone recently visiting the branch to express his gratitude and approval of a business taking positive steps to ensure its customers’ safety.

Mr Buffone would like to see all local businesses take a considered approach to weather ratings with individualised policies in place across the community.

“With the bushfire season not over yet, it is important to work together with local businesses, to assist our communities and raise bushfire awareness,” he said.

Anyone can pick up a copy of CFA’s ‘Your Guide to Survival’ from the Warrandyte Community Bank Branch at 144 Yarra Street, Warrandyte.
