At Sandford Fire Brigade's recent open day, the brigade showcased its new Defibrillator unit and handed out service awards to deserving members.

Sandford brigade held an open day on 9 December to show that community spirit is alive and well. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for the open day, which coincided with the local market day a few doors down.
Awards were handed out to Kathrine Wilson (5 years), Mick Wilson ((20 years), Glenn Bergroth (20 years) Stewart Carter (55 years), Ian McSwain (35 Years), Geoff Mitchell (50 years) and John Frankensteiner (35 years). A National Medal with three clasps was also given to past member Jim Widdicombe. The prestigious award was accepted on Jim's behalf by four generations of his family: Jim's wife Shirley, son David, granddaughter Amy, great grandson Connor Holmes, grandson Mark, son-in-law Jim Rogerson, daughter-in-law Suzie Widdicombe, and daughters Caroline and Kathie.
Sandford brigade has bought a defibrillator to support the community and this was demonstrated by Captain Glenn Bergroth.
