Sausage sizzle support for local volunteers

Bunnings’ team members will be behind the grill this weekend from 9am to 4pm for Bunning’s annual Emergency Services Volunteer BBQ which helps raise money for CFA and SES.

Volunteer firefighters will join Bunnings team members at more than 40 stores across the state to discuss fire safety with members of the community.

CFA Chief Officer Steve Warrington said the Bunnings BBQ initiative was a great opportunity for the community to support and engage with CFA and SES volunteers.

“We hope the community will take this opportunity to get to know their local Emergency Service volunteers and strike up a conversation about fire safety and hopefully gain a better understanding of the important and far-reaching job our volunteers do,” Chief Officer Warrington said.

“We are in the middle of the summer season and the extreme weather conditions we’re currently experiencing, highlights the critical role of our fire and emergency services.

“The community has an important role as well - both in its support of emergency services through initiatives like these and in doing the right thing to mitigate against fire risk.

“We urge all Victorians to prepare their home, have a plan and keep informed of conditions.”

CFA would like to thank Bunnings for their ongoing support and providing the community an opportunity to engage with our volunteers.

More than $125,000 was raised through this initiative in 2017 in Victoria, with more than $63,000 going directly to participating CFA brigades.
