Shepparton brigade career staff support our farmers

Shepparton Fire Brigade career staff stepped up and assisted with the cooking of sausages at Bunnings Shepparton for over three hours in a statewide fundraiser for much-needed hay for drought-affected farmers in NSW.

CFA staff jumped at the opportunity to cook and sell sausages with Bunnings staff in a statewide drive to raise much funds for the severe drought-affected parts of Australia.

The money will go towards hay for livestock, so farmers can continue to feed what stock has survived the harsh drought that has affected all New South Wales. The whole of the state has been declared in drought with 23 per cent declared as intense drought.

The program being run is part of Rural Aids 'Buy a Bale' campaign and is being run Australia-wide with all funds raised going directly to purchasing hay.

Staff from Shepparton Fire Station were only too happy to assist, especially as many of them live in, or were raised in, rural areas, and have a good understanding of the impact drought has on farmers.
