Crews from Taradale, Ephinstone and Malmsbury were called to the location on Tyquins Road, Taradale just before 5pm.

The fire was slow moving due to low wind allowing firefighters to get it under control quickly.

Air support called in from Bendigo was cancelled due to the swift response.

The availability of a local 8000-litre water-carting truck also allowed the brigade’s tankers to be refilled quickly after the initial fire attack, containing the fire to about 1.2 hectares.

The fire was under control just after 5.30pm.
