Fire has destroyed a home at Elaine Court in Springvale and damaged 2 others.
9 CFA crews from Springvale, Dandenong and Keysborough were called to reports of a fire in the backyard of a home around 5.30pm Monday, 14 January.
They found one house well alight and spreading to two properties either side, with smoke showing from several streets away.
Firefighters in breathing aparatus attacked the fire in two properties while preventing flames from spreading to a third. Fears were intitially held for the homes occupants, but thankfully all residents were accounted for.
The middle home was completely destroyed, while a second was extensively damaged. A third home sustained smoke damage.
EPA was called after a large amount of chemicals used in the prodcution of soap and shampoo in the back yard of the destroyed property was released in the fire and subsequent firefight.
The cause is under investigation.
