“A CALD Night In” event was designed to encourage dialogue between the culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Communities and emergency services personnel to break down pre-conceived ideas and existing communication barriers.
The event was held at the reading Cinema in Dandenong and the evening started with a light supper consisting of a selection of multicultural cuisine followed by a screening of “Go back to where you came from”. During the evening there were a number of guest speakers and keynote speaker Imogen Bailey, actress and participant in series two.
A Q&A panel was set up at the end of the screening consisting of;
- Samar Mougharbel – House Coordinator Springvale Neighbourhood house
- Maha Sukkar – Southern Multicultural Liaison Unit, Victoria police
- Minthura Wynn – Southern Ethic Advisory & Advocacy Council
- Imogen Bailey – Ambassador to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre
