Strawberries, cherries and a brigade open day in Bacchus Marsh.
On the weekend of 21 and 22 November, Bacchus Marsh celebrated its annual Strawberries & Cherries Festival. The biggest festival in the history of the event, The Moorabool News reported that over 20,000 people visited our town during the festival. Indeed, the strawberry farms on our Honour of Avenue ran out of produce by Sunday afternoon.
As part of the festival, Bacchus Marsh Fire Brigade opened its doors on both days to huge success. As a stop on the Strawberries & Cherries trail, where people could get their festival passport stamped, we saw many people visiting the station.
Activities included a children’s colouring competition, photos with Santa, the opportunity to have a look over our pumper and a tanker, and live fire demonstrations. Importantly, brigade members gave people advice and information about their own fire safety.
Captain Koala and Beepa also paid a visit and wandered down Main Street and interacted with the crowds.
The festival was very successful for both the brigade and our town.
