CFA values and honours exceptional contributions to protecting lives and property.

AFSM

You now have the opportunity to nominate members for recognition of the prestigious Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM). CFA is in the process of consolidating AFSM nominations for the Australia Day Honours 2022.

Due Date: 1 May 2021 (CFA closing date)

Introduced in 1988, the medal is awarded twice a year on Australia Day and the Queen's Birthday in recognition of distinguished service by a member of an Australian fire service.

Recent CFA recipients include Ross Coyle, Ian Hay, Mark Roberts and Leighton Wraith.

Please refer to the CFA Honours and Awards Nominator’s Guide for assistance on how to determine the most appropriate award, the importance of aligning the written nomination of a person to the criteria for the selected award, and finally, some guidance around the content of your nomination, so that the nominee has the best opportunity to be considered for special recognition.

Anyone can put forward a nomination for someone they know who deserves to be honoured. To nominate, visit the awards section of Members Online and download the relevant nomination forms and supporting documentation. All nominations are strictly confidential.

If you would like to discuss your nomination idea or for any other award enquiries, please contact Belinda Gillespie at cfa-awards@cfa.vic.gov.au
