ANZAC Day in Doreen

On 25 April 2018, ANZAC Day once again saw members of Doreen Fire Brigade assist with the dawn service.

Our main role was to provide traffic control as the dawn service at Doreen has become quite popular with many people attending.

It also gave us the opportunity to join with the wider Doreen community to  pay our respects to all those who have served, are still serving, and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We also keep a watchful eye on those attending. Our first-aid skills have been called on at every dawn service we have attended. This year was no different with one of the the gathered crowd collapsing.

Quick intervention by Doreen CFA members meant the person escorted to the FCV where they were made comfortable.

It would seem that being up early without something to eat or drink was the cause. Some water and a bag of lollies aided in a quick recovery.

The person and their parents were very pleased with the assistance provided.

Meanwhile, the captain representing the brigade joined other dignitaries in laying a wreath at the recently-constructed memorial.

As part of the service, one of our members, a church minister, led the crowd in prayer.

The brigade members then returned to the station for a gunfire breakfast to finish off the morning.
