Ararat dry cleaners gutted

CFA crews have saved adjoining buildings after a dry cleaning business was destroyed by fire overnight at Ararat (Friday 30 August).

The business in Vincent Street was well alight when crews arrived just after 7.15pm.

Unable to enter the burning building, crews concentrated their efforts on protecting shops either side of the dry cleaners. It took two hours to bring under control.

At the height of the blaze, 11 vehicles were on scene from Ararat, Ballarat City and Stawell.

Ballarat's ladder platform truck was used to fight the fire from above. SES and Victoria Police personnel provided outstanding support to fire crews.

Fire investigators were on scene this morning endeavouring to determine a cause.
